WHAT I BELIEVE
Ashley’s Philosophy of Supervision
As a clinical supervisor in training, my approach is grounded in an egalitarian-leaning, collaborative relationship with my supervisees, and I am committed to meeting you at your current developmental stage as a clinician.
I engage in systems thinking regarding supervision, focusing on the intricate dynamics that influence both clients and therapists. I utilize the Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Core Competencies to assess progress , incorporating frameworks such as Relational Cultural Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Structural Therapy, and a social justice lens into our work.
Addressing cultural systems and intersectionality is essential to my approach, as I integrate elements related to social justice, privilege, and oppression into our supervision sessions. This focus ensures that we build clinical skills, encourage professional growth, prioritize client care, engage in effective gatekeeping, and attend to the self-of-the-therapist.
